What is Alopecia Areata?
Alopecia Areata causes hairs to prematurely shed and enter a long resting phase. It presents as circular patches, over the scalp. One or several patches are clearly visible with this condition.
With alopecia areata the patient's white blood cells are attacking healthy hair bulbs. This occurs usually after an illness, as toxins remain circulating in the bloodstream, confusing the immune system.
